T2 Minister of Religion Visa – Overview
The T2 Minister of Religion visa is for individuals who hold a key leadership role within a faith-based organisation or religious order in the UK.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the T2 Minister of Religion visa, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Certificate of Sponsorship: Have a valid certificate of sponsorship from a Home Office-licensed sponsor, confirming that you will not primarily undertake non-pastoral duties and that your salary will align with that of settled workers in similar roles.
  • Role Commitment: Genuinely intend and be able to take on the role without pursuing alternative employment.
  • English Language: Demonstrate English proficiency at B2 level or above in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Test: Provide evidence of a clear TB test if you have lived in a country listed by UKVI for at least 6 months before applying.
  • Financial Requirements: Show you have at least £1,270 in personal savings, or if not, your sponsor must certify they will support and accommodate you for at least the first month of your employment with a minimum of £1,270, unless you’ve been in the UK for 1 year by the time of your application.
Visa Duration
  • Initial visa duration: The T2 Minister of Religion visa is granted for up to 3 years and 1 month if applying for entry clearance.
  • Extension: You can extend the visa to reach a total stay of up to 6 years in the UK when applying for permission to stay.
Visa Conditions
  • While on a T2 Minister of Religion visa, you cannot:
  • Access public funds
  • Change your employment
  • However, you are permitted to:
  • Undertake supplementary work (as long as it does not conflict with your primary duties)
  • Study (subject to restrictions)
  • Volunteer
  • Work out a contractual notice period
  • Supplement your employment in specific roles, such as a second job (within limits)
Settlement Eligibility
After spending a continuous 5 years in the UK (which may include time spent on certain other visas), you can apply for settlement if you meet the following criteria:

Pass the Life in the UK test
Your sponsor must still be approved by the Home Office to sponsor you, confirm they still need your services, and that they will continue to pay you the appropriate salary
